Uncovering Scott Topper's Shrike OTF
Uncovering Scott Topper's Shrike OTF
The pantheon of knife making incorporates many talented individuals spanning the sea of time, from day one of flint knapping obsidian in caves to William Scagel pioneering the recognized art form and creation of Custom Knife making.
There is a sanctuary inside the great halls of knife making reserved for those daring enough to embark on the pursuit of creating a switchblade. This is a rare form of torture for those intrigued by a true mechanical contrivance, in addition to all the heart-falls of standard custom knife making.
When you add a spring to an otherwise complicated folding mechanism (that strikes most uninitiated as looking “simple”) this is a good exercise in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Fine Art and a dash of Madness.
Located just to the left of the Emergency Exit in this sanctuary there is an unmarked windowless door ridding on invisible hinges with a lock made by Erno Rubik himself, behind this door is the path much less traveled. Leading to a small room with a single table, reserved seating for those making custom Out The Front Knives.
Today we are taking a closer look at one of the people who sits at that table. Scott Topper and his Shrike OTF.
